Re: raylars 496 engine kits ?
Hi Dwight, yes, Modern Marine displayed my engine at both the Chicago and Detroit boat shows. Maybe now I'll be able to keep up with you guys on the Northern Michigan Fun Run!
Harper, the final $ numbers aren't in yet. So far I've just been paying what you see on the Raylar web site for the Raylar kit, including the Mahle forged pistons and H-beam rods, and about $3,000 for the Bassett headers and SS water lines. I also paid about $800 for the Dooley 14qt oil pan. The only labor I've paid for to date is for prepping the block for the .010 over forged pistons. Future expenses are for the coil relocation brackets and ECM relocation hardware. Also, the 106 kit requires an "E-box" that will modify the stock ECM's fuel curve. That's a whole different subject that I know little about at this time, so don't ask me questions I can't answer! I agree that Modern Marine did a nice job with the paint. Kudos to Brock for his painting skills. The picture doesn't do it justice.
Looking forward to getting it all together and seeing what happens on the dyno and the water. Raylar says I can expect 560 HP, but I'm more interested in the torque numbers.
