Yes,
We were in the lead until I lost RPM in the Port motor (PCV valve). The French guys beat us at the line! You were 3rd, Invensys broke (drive), Outlaw spun out (twice!) several Fountains followed as did Brett.

After all, this thread was to "state the facts".
I agree, the fastest boat doesn't always win.
As long as you have a strong, well set-up hull and a great crew that can work together in the cockpit, that may be all you need. Apparently that is all Wild Child needed.....

You must remember, Outerlimits will build the boat to the customer's needs.
So if a said customer wants some specialized leather from the other side of the globe to finish off the entire interior, then they will provide it. And yes, that costs big money. If the customer wants to pay for it, then hell, why not give them what they want?
That is probably why you see so many satisfied OL owners. They get what they want. They are part of the boat building process throughout. They become a part of it because they are they ones picking out the colors and putting the finishing touches on their one of kind boat they are buying.

Wasn't this thread ABOUT the fastest in a straight line? Either will can set the record, it seems to a horsepower race now for thi9s kilo record.
I like both boats, too, I have no favorite in this contest.

"You mention Reggie Fountain building larger boats after being a Factory Tunnel Driver for Mercury. Did you also know that Reggie got on the factory team with the assistance of Sylvan "Ham" Hamberger who was Vice president at Mercury . Ham told me Reggie called about not being a team driver til he finally got him the spot which was previously Bob Herrings just to shut him up. Did you also know that if not for David Lee of Lee Craft boats, there likely would be no Fountain Boats as David was involved in the making of the first molds. If you know Reggie and his personality and I mean no disrepect by this statement, you know money is what drives him more than desire or so I have heard."
From a man who apparently goes way back with some of the old outboard drivers.
Main discussion about how PB doesn't cover more of the Outboards in their Mag....
One thing for sure, Reggie is driven!!!
