Re: Pledge Furniture Polish
Pledge does not soften vinyl. Nothing will soften vinyl unless it is dissolving it. Do not use acetone on vinyl. Acetone will dissolve it.
Scrubbung vinyl with a rough pad to clean it disrupts and roughens the surface of the vinyl only letting more dirt become collected and eventually makes it worse.
The best method I have found to clean vinyl is using baking soda and an orbital polisher. Apply water, baking soda and buff. The baking soda will actually get the collected dirt in the nooks and crannies out and slightly polish the vinyl without hurting it.

Re: Pledge Furniture Polish
After we clean the vinyl we always finish it off with Pledge and a soft towel.

Fast Orange and elbow grease will take stains out of vinyl safely. I have used it in the past with great results. Joe Murray

When I was a kid I was a dock boy at a small airline in Alaska. Had a fleet of 13 de Havilland DHC-1 Beavers on floats. We Pledged the windshields every morning. Helped with the scratches and let the water bead off after landing in the water. Been using it for all kinds of things ever since .

Re: Pledge Furniture Polish
Had a canvas shop in Orlanda recommend pledge for clear plastic side curtains and vinyl--he kept cases of it in his 24' trailer that he brought to do canvas work on-site.
Anybody have a good "cure" for algae (black spots) on interior vinyl wall covering> My boat's been in "dry storage" and the damn stuff is pretty widespread---

Re: Pledge Furniture Polish
I used to do it for years. Took care of all the vinyl surfaces, seats, dash, headliner, etc. Only trouble was that it did make the seats slippery. First corner I went around I'd be sliding all over the seat.
Applied it once to the seat on my motorcycle. BIG MISTAKE! First time I hit the brakes I wound up sitting on the gas tank.
