Cig top gun
I am new to this forum but not new to boating. I have a friend who is looking at 2 cig top guns. They are a year apart in age but the 03 has 575's and about 40 more hours, while the 04 has 525's. It sounds as if they are set up similarly. Assuming that they are close in price- which would you want more and why?

Go with 525's if he thinks he won't want more power and speed eventually.
The 575's will be easier and much cheaper than the 525's to hop up if he wants more speed eventually (we all do usually), Pulley and re-program pushes them easily at 675 and then your buddy will blow by all his buddy's with 525's

Go for the 525's. More reliable, closed cooled, you can run 89 octane and better resale value since the 575's are no longer being produced.

I guess it's unanimous... 525's...
If you don't care about getting spanked by a guy that spent $2,000 on both his 575's...
No one cares about speed in those boats anyway...
