advantage of kevlar hull for a 38 top gun.... how much lighter?
I have been looking at alot cigarette's and i finally found one i think i want. It has a kevlar hull, and i was just curious how much lighter they are than glass hulls. Also the boat has 650 riche zul motors, and they say it runs 90. (99 non step) Is that possible. Im gonna run it this week and bring a hand held, but i would like to know what to exspect. Any feedback would be great.

Pass the pipe! (d-hlaw, where is that picture?) Check with Primal Instinct. He had 650hp in his '99 Top Gun and put in big power (950hp). I believe TwinStepGun said it runs in the mid 90's with the 950's.

650's in a '99 Top Gun .... might run 82
90 mph in a Cigarette is costly. You can get in with a low budget and cough up the lump sums WHEN things break ... Or, you can spend it up front on newer technology and have an almost turn-key 90 mph boat. It'll cost you the same, if not less, by going with newer. Been there, done that.

MY kevlar hull is stronger and not much lighter. Carbon Fiber and epoxy for super light and strong. $$$$

I have twin 700's in my 97 Kevlar. It as never even seen 90 on a trialer let alone in the water. 86 at best is still a probabilty.

The actual boat was tested in mid 1999 in power boat mag, but i cant find it anywhere. and the archives on the site only go back to 2000. As long as the boat runs over 80 ill be happy. It was more a curiosity thing, because ive never ran a cigarette. I currently own a 29 fountain that runs slightly over 90 and everyone tells me once i run a cig. ill never get in a fountain again. So basicly ill sacrifice speed for ride and quality. Fuel is gonna hurt this season though!!!!
