Re: who works on their own boat?
Now that my extended warranty is up.......I'll do it all!! Except maybe the drive repairs....and the gelcoat repairs. I suck at body type work!! Right before my warranty ran out I had Mercury replace my gimbal ring....after 6 months of fighting over it!! I had the marina do it the Ron Bender way..I love it!!

Can do it all. Once in a while I will jump in back int he shop and work on a "cool" project if my guys are slammed. Have my own tools, boxes and space among my guys, but usually other concerns pull me away. I ALWAYS do the best part though, the water testing

I do all the minor stuff unless it is covered by warranty. I actually enjoy working on the boat most of the time, now if I could only get someone else to clean it?

Everything but stiching... lets see, rigging, motors, drives, EFI, gelcoat, bottom blueprinting, make the payments, yep that's about everything. I wont grind my own cam or grind a crank, or grind valves. No custom paint either.. Thats about it.. did I leave anything out? Oh yeah, I have pictures to prove it all too.. just too slow a connection speed to send the 100's of pics of my fun with my boats over the years.
My feeling is " get a pro to do the work" and then fix it yourself, it usually ends up better that way. Yes.. boating is in my blood!!
