Re: Dumb things people say to you at the boat ramp
Oh well, some of the funny stories I tell during the winter are of some dumba$$ maneuver at the dock I winessed, or of some dumb question I had to answer. I suppose when I started boating I did some dumb stuff. But that doesn't mean that I can't make fun of people now!

How about the guy who thinks the outdrive is the actual engine?
"How can those little engines make 470 HP?"

Had a good one in SC on the way up back up, only had the boat in my possesion 3 days and got some. A guy was asking me about gas and being a jackass, all the while he had a bottle of Aquafina in his hand, I let it go until he kept saying that I would pay way too much, I then pointed out that he just paid 1.69 for the bottle of water inside and at that very moment water was more expensive than gas ounce for ounce, so 2.25 a gallon is much better than 1.69 for 20 oz. He shrugged and said, he never thought of it that way.

Re: Dumb things people say to you at the boat ramp
I still enjoy watching the two wheel drive pickups just smoking their tires bald trying to get a boat up a ramp. I've actually helped maybe five, possibly six guys get their boats out by taking their boat off the trailer, hooking trailer to my truck, then pull it out for them. Then guys started asking me to do it and when the same guy asked, I said sure "for fifty bucks". He just stormed off. I told him "hey, I helped you once, you should've learned the lesson. You don't want a problem at a ramp, get a four wheel drive". Guy told me I was an azzhole. Guess I was, but I have to pay, maintain, and fuel a four wheel drive. Why should he benefit from my payments. Once was helping him, twice was becoming a chore.
Like my buddy George says, "too many times, today's favor becomes tomorrow's chore".
