Re: Dumb things people say to you at the boat ramp
I like when you take a friend who knows nothing about boats and they offer you a fiver for gas? At about $2.50 a gallon that might get me out of the Marina?
When we towed the Blown Alcohol Hydro on the open trailer we always got asked at gas stations how fast it went. One night we had to stop in the hood and all the people there asked "how much is that thing worth?" We left quickly!

I have a pretty good rep at all my local lakes, wanna keep it that way.
But I guess you can't use the "compensating for a short season" down there.
It's ok.... we can't really use "Ya'll."

Re: Dumb things people say to you at the boat ramp
Not at the ramp, but last week, I was working on the boat in the back of the house wich is a corner lot, so the sidewalk runs by the back yard. I saw a father and his two kids walking by and the one kids says " look daddy, a race boat" and the Dad say's "thats not a race boat, the guy just thinks it is" I stopped what I was doing and said to the kids "hey, you guys want to take a look" and they immediately said yes and ran over to the boat.
I let them sit in the seats and climb all over it while Dad didn't even come in the yard. I went in my truck and gave them each a mini 2004 World Championship poster. They were very excited and ran back to Dad yelling
"see Dad, I told you it was a raceboat"
It was classic, not a look or a thank you from Daddy, I think he was a little embarressed

You passed on the opportunity to make the dad look foolish.
You took the opportunity to represent your sport in a very classy way.
Nicely played.
