In my last boat I had 2800 watts running 8 woofers and countless mids and highs. With just two optima batteries, I could play it at full volume for about 6 hours and still crank the motor at the end of the day. I did have a 200 amp alternator for charging between parties.

The optima's are just rated at 55amp hours as stated before. One good (100amp hour) deep cycle battery will do if you want to save on some weight.

go 1 batcap for every amp and you wont need to add the extra weight of a battery take it from me ive learned the battery power i play 20 + hrs and still can start and go when i want

At 800W i would think 2 batteries would be fine. If your concerned about the charge in the batteries but them on a slow charge when you have it parked so there fully charged next time you go out. With my old system I was pushing close to 2000W with only 2 batteries & never had any problems, as long as they were fully charged throughout the week with a trickle charger.

Remember this it depends on who's 800watts your talking about . Most amps are over rated .Some are not efficient

Like a buddy of mine bought a 2000wt at the pawn shop and wondered why my 300 wt amp was louder

I have a good 3-terminal battery isolator out of my 382 Formula if anyone needs one. $100.00 ($175.00 new).
