Ray, if I choose to keep the Merc. system, do I need to do anything about the stock pressure regulator that Merc. has installed as part of the Cool Fuel system?
It is a non adjustable unit and it has a vacumn line running to the intake manifold. Should I run this line to the carb, or just block off or remove the line altogether?
I found a nice carb pressure regulator at Summit Racing, the question then becomes can you take a 30-45 psi system down to 7 psi at the carb?

In the .pdf attached:
#13 is the non adjustable pressure regulator
# 3 is the HP elec. fuel pump

Thanks,

Don

Don:
As long as you put your new fuel pressure regulator between the output of the coolfuel Merc system and the new carburator, you should be able to adjust the fuel pressure to the carb somewhere in the 6-9 lb range you should need. You will have to run another return line from this secondary (carb) fuel pressure regulator to the intake side of your fuel water seperator or back to tank. This seems like more work and parts than neccessary. Just get a carburator type fuel pressure regulator and pump in place of the Merc "Cool-fuel system.
Remeber "Keep it Simple Studpid", don't make anything more complicated than it needs to be to work! especially when you are just trying to save small dollars! Boats don't run well on small dollars!

Ray,I talked to an engineer at Aeromotive and they have a concern that their fuel pressure regulator can not handle the differential between an inlet pressure of 30-45 psi versus an outlet pressure of 6-8 psi.
I have decided to go with a Hardin marine mechanical fuel pump and drop the cool fuel system altogether.
Simple wins over sophistacted on this one.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Don
