Re: 575SCI blower oil change.
Here's some pics of the drain plug mod.
There was a baffle directly under my drain plug that prevented me from using the suction method.
The rear doesn't have any oil to drain. It is a sealed bearing.
The towel got all the oil. Doesn't hold all that much.
My oil looked good without fuel smell at 130 hrs.

Nice pics. Great idea, and thanks for the write up. Looks like a winter project for me. I have an early W256 (2001) 575, so I'll have to do both front and rear on mine. My friend has an '02 575, and he still has the W256 blower too. I did look at a 2004 that had the new style B&M front cover. So it looks like Mercury made a running change in either '03 or '04 on the blower (and yes Bubba it does still have the preferable Weiand case).
I do like the oil level sight gauge on the front cover vs the dipstick on mine. And my rear cover just has an allen screw for fill, drain and level.
Looks like you are running a Whipple low pro intercooler on yours too? I'm very pleased with mine so far. What do you think about yours? I think this a perfect application for an intercooler because the W256 has to be spun fast for extra boost on the 502, which creates a lot of heat. The intercooler solves that issue. I'm running a 3" pulley @ 6.5PSI boost.
Regards,
Steve

Ours is an 01 too. I'll take some pictures this weekend of it. I think it'll be the same as yours Steve. I better check if there is oil at the rear or a sealed bearing!
