I used alluminun spool gun with 100% argon, got good pen. reshaped weld to match surface. wish I had a TIG but ya got ta go with whacha got. I can see where the rear of the housing takes a lot of load. just keeping fingers crossed. let you all know monday if it holds. if not......hello, BAM ?

Bowmann's in houston does alot of props, but they also have been know to do welds on drive casings, I'm going to take mine by and see what they can do, I'll let you know how things turn out.

test drove ( welded lower ) weld held ! Ya hoo, but while I was out the other drive puked all over inside the engine bay, out the resevoir, turned out the oil transfer hose from the bell housing to the transom had a crack and allowed water into the drive, pulled drive and bellow, replaced 3/8 hose yesterday. lots of fun installing these drives by you're self.

I've got four drives that got the electrolysis cancer. Does it makes sense to buy new upper and lower cases and rebiuld or just try and sell the parts?

I'm told all the shafts and gears are good--bearings probably good--just "housings" are bad.

Any thoughts?
