scorpions turn 4,000 instread of 5,200 RPM
Used to turn 5,200 RPM for several years, now they only turn 4,000 RPM. Perhaps the exhaust manifolds are rusting up and restricting the Revs?

Chris,
Generally, when stock Merc manifolds rust, they cause an overheat problem, not a exhaust gas flow restriction. It is unusual that both motors would suddenly develope the same problem. While I am not an expert at twin motors, I would focus my attention on something that is common with both motors. Could it possibly be some type of fuel restriction? Do both motors suck fuel from the tank from the same pick-up tube? Maybe there is a restriction there?

check your fuel quality. Pull the fuel/water seperaters and pour the contents of them into a clear glass bottle, if you see alot of crud or water you should have the tank flushed and cleaned wich can be done in the boat. I would seriously recomend not running the boat until you check the fuel system you can torch those engines real quick if you have a restriction in the supply or are running bad fuel.

Re: scorpions turn 4,000 instead of 5,200 RPM
Ok thanks guys, will check the fuel system. I may have bumped a tank selector lever with one of the anchors while dragging them out from under the seat while JCPERF was watching. <gg>
Hey JCPERF, you should have tossed a beer at me or something. Was the anchoring performance before or after that Boat U.S. guy broke free his anchor and he nearly hit me with the offical assistance boat? I thought he was supposed to be the professional anchorman in the group? What was his girlfriend/wife thinking I wonder

Oh yeah, vinny, this is all your fault. After seeing your rig, I had to see what mine would do, as normally I just cruise around at 3200 RPM and would have never taken it to peak RPM. If there is a problem, I'll owe you a beer.

Chris,
Don't blame this on me.. Your wife is the speed freak. Maybe she made you push it a bit.
