Default Replacing Carpet?

When removing carpet, what tools do you use to get it up, Is there dried adhesive left down that needs to be cleaned, scraped or sanded? and how do you get it off and prep for the new carpet? how does the new carpet get laid and cut? and is there an adhesive for that?
In other words, step by step carpet instal instructionsl please.
Thanks
Evan
