Default wireing on 525 efi

I want to hook a hour meter and fuel pressure gauge on my 525 efi. on the back of the motor there is some wires not connected that are labbled battery, fuel, swith ,etc etc... can I tap into the switch wire for hour meter and I already have a fuel pressure guage installed and wire back there from eliminator but they did not hook up the fuel pressure guage. will it have to have sending unit or is it there?

Use a volt meter on the switch wire and verify with key on and key off if this wire gets twelve volts when the key is on, if it does you can use it for the hour meter, just don't leave the key on in the run postion for long periods when the motor is off and get overstated engine hours. Some boaters use the power wire to the fuel pump as the hour meter power as it is running when the motor is running. Lots of builders fill the dash panels with guages for a "cooler" look, but they are not always wired in. In the case of a fuel pressure guage it does take a pressure sending unit in the pressure side of the fuel pump output line and those fittings and senders are more expensive and time consuming to install than the "cool" guage!
kinda doubt they did the whole install. If you are a little unsure or a novice have a good rigger look at the boat and do a careful job on the fuel pressure system. Leaking fuel fittings and lines on a boat are flat dangerous! Be safe! NOT SORRY!
