Default Mercury diagnostic/scan tool?

I've been thinking about purchasing a Mercury EFI scan tool. Is there an aftermarket tool manufacturer that makes one or is the Mercury tool the best way to go? Where is a good place to get one? Better yet, anyone out there have one they no longer need?

I bought mine from RINDA Technologies (spelling??). They actually make the tool for mercruiser. They are about $400. Great investment! You can find them on the web or do a search on this board.

Get the Rinda Diacom software. The recording and data export is worth the extra $ ($580 compared to $400 for the handheld scan tool).

Will the Diacom software work on outboards also.
I would be interested if it worked with my 300x's.

No, you can not change any ECM programming with Diacom software.

Well, thats not entirely true. You can use Diacom to reflash an ECM if you are a dealer and have proper authorization codes and data from the factory.
