Default 496 pressure/temp senders

I've resarched the subject on this board regarding the location of oil pressure and water temperature senders on the 496 mag engines. I've swapped out my gauges and then found I needed new senders to get correct readings. The oil sender has a light blue wire to the gauge and the water temp has a tan or light brown wire to the gauge. My question is this: Are these two senders specifically for the gauges? And does the PCM 555 computer get it's information from other sensors. Im not sure if swapping out the senders to work with the new gauges will effect the computer. Anyone else done this?

Thanks !
