For anyone who is interested, WalMart has a nice end cap sale right now on Mobil 1 15W-50 Silver Cap for $5.20 a qt in the big bottles. Just picked up three, so two changes worth. Seemed like a good price.
Still looking for the perfect oil filter. Using the Wix 51069R at 4.33" tall just fits my limited space between the filter mount and the exhaust manifold. The tall ones like a M1-302 won't fit and the short ones like the M1-111 seem to last only a few weeks until the oil pressure starts jumping around at lower speeds. Any suggestions from others who have this space problem? Are these "Racing Only" Wix filters good for a 100hour per season of mild use stock 502 Mag boating?
Thanks

The VTwin at the same store was $7.49 a qt last year. Too much at $9.49 tho, esp with the Silver cap so cheap.

I am going to try the Amsoil Ea025 filters this year for the first time. They are 4.25 overall length and use a 100% synthetic filtering media. They claim to filter and flow better than the stock Merc. cellulose Filters. I have stock 502 Mags, So I know what you mean about the limited space for a tall oil filter.

I use them on my boat. I have twin 496hos and run the EAO 24 with the AMSOIL Series 2000 20w-50 racing oil. They are, as far as I know, contain the best filtering media on the market. They are 98.7% efficient with particles as low as 15 microns, and 50% efficient at 7 microns. The media is reinforced from the inside with a stainless steel mesh, to keep them from collapsing, along being able to hold a lot more contaminants. I ran a whole season on them, 52-53 hours. You are in Ray Twp, just send me an email, I'm in Romeo, I can get you more information. [email protected]

The EaO oil filters are among the best out there..another excellent choice.
I have had nothing but great results with all the Amsoil products I have used.
They make a great fuel stabilizer as well.
This oil is also outstanding...and a bit less costly too..

That's what it goes for and it's worth every penney too as you will see if you do oil analysis.
The Amsoil 20W-50 is amazing as well and less costly.
$8/qt in a keg....find a couple buddies and have a kegger..
