Default Ignition mounting

I have always mounted the ignition on a stainless bracket mounted to the top of my bellhousings. My new crane box comes with instructions NOT to do this.

No reason is given. Is it due to grounding potential? I see a lot of boxes on engines.. What is the consensus.

Nice to have everything on the motor, but vibration and heat are electonics worst enemies. Always monted mine on the transom/gunnel

I mounted MSD box to transom with 4 screws; rubber washers behind box. The rev limiter was mounted with 1 1/2" two sided tape, and 2 screws, since screw holes were on one side of Soft Touch. 14 years, NO PROBLEMS of any kind.

I have mine mounted to the side of the block under the headers. I havn't had a single problem. Of course, my engine doesn't get hot, the headers and water cooled and the engine bay is open so heat can't build up. It makes it alot easier to pull the engine when you only have two wiring connections to unplug.
