I was going to keep my bias opinion to myself but since others are suggesting hulls I will too. Check out the '24 Superboat. You can probably find an older hull without power for the right price. You may have to travel to NY, CT, NJ to get it though.
I have a stock 496HO in mine.

I love my Formula but it's not what you want for speed. I think you're headed down the right track looking elsewhere because that price is steeeeeeeeeeep for a 1993 that needs TLC with no power.

Not sure if '93 27' has a stepped hull, but my '03 27' with stepped hull and 496HO (425HP) would run 70 - 71 GPS with minimal fuel and only a driver. More like 65 with 4 or 5 on board. '03 27' I drove with HP500 EFI ran 73 - 74 with minimal fuel and only a driver. I would imagine if '93 isn't stepped it would be around 1 - 2 mph less. Just keep in mind that as far as Fountains go, the 29' is supposed to be a better hull for big power, 27's tend to chine walk at the limit. Just my experience and .02. Hope it helps.

I think that this was my old boat. I just traded in a 1993 27' Fountain. Windshield was cracked, and just found out that the engine had problems. I'm in Michigan. Is it all white, blue fountain stripes, and white fountain decal on the windshield? I can tell you anything about the boat if you want. Harrison Twp?

Tom,
I'll give you a buzz this evening after work. I know the history of the boat. Not sure if Len gave you the whole story. It was a great boat for me, few issues I'll update you on.
