Default Broken Bravo drive question

Pretty sure a drive let go yesterday. At first I though it was a coupler but could see the spline shat from the drive still spinning but no response from the drive when throttle was advanced.

Idled home on one engine/drive. Back at the dock the drive did engage and have forward/reverse at idle speed. Is it common to have drive at idle but it degrades as power is added ? Like the drive is slipping ?

Normally when a drive starts to come apart you hear it making noise. I'd look alittle closer at the engine coupler, check to see if you see any rubber shavings near the back of the motor by the bellhousing....

Sorry for your bad luck, but if you need a drive I do have one for sale, and I have left or right hand.

Unhappy Re: Broken Bravo drive question

Sounds like a engine coupler to me. Pull motor time.

Could be a shifting problem also.. do a search on shift problems and check the threads, the info was posted some time back.. to help you determine if it is a shifting problem..

Could it be the hub on the propeller?
That sure would be a simpler fix.
They'll fail just like you described, you can idle in fwd or reverse, just can't give them any power.

Good luck.

Sure it could be the hub, but same as with the coupler normally when they start to go they slip alot like a clutch in a car if you accel slowly they will grab a little. pull boat out of the water put it in gear and try to turn the prop.

what area are you in????
if you have anyquestions give me a call or email me

Turned out it was a spun prop hub.
