TRS puking oil out the reservoir vent...?

I have an old(er) TRS drive that has an internal reservoir (inside transom...where the dipstick is located). Oil has remained at a consistent level ever since I re-filled the drive last season.
Now, all of a sudden, when I "get on it", the drive starts puking oil out of the vent at the top of the reservoir. Not alot, but enough to make a mess (and a stink)...a few tablespoons.
I thought perhaps water intrusion into the drive could be causing the oil to be displaced, but there is no indication on the dipstick of water in the oil. Perfectly clear oil.
Any ideas?

It heats up when you runnerhard and will go over. That is normal, just leave the level a little low on the stick and you will be fine. After it pukes over don't refill from inside. Been there done that and cleaned it up.....

I accelerated from "0" (cool engine/drive) at anchor and within 30 secs. the oil was overflowing.

TRS drives are known for puking a little oil out the vent. This is very common. If it pukes allot of oil then you might have some water intrusion. The drives get little air pockets on the upper and when they heat up the air expands, expelling some fluid out of the tank.
The trick is to put a puke tank on the breather vent and put the tube in the bottom of your puke tank. This way when the drive cools it will suck back any oil. Most people just leave the level low and don't worry about it.
It's most definitely worth the piece of mind to check your oil for water like bobl says. It's an easy fix now and expensive if you let it go.
