Re: silent choice or switchable mufflers
I have the switchable tips on my built 454. It's basically straight pipes when it's open and when switched close it lowers the sound 10-14 decibles. I think mine are Eddie Marine. I really like them around the docks.

I have 1 set of Teague St-450's if any one needs for sale.
Yes, you can have a conversation when they are on.

Re: silent choice or switchable mufflers
My friend bought the tips that go on the back of the boat. Some sort of external silent choice. They are on the CMI tail pipes. With a 572 and headers, it is hard to tell if they are open or closed. They probably work better on the 525 sc motor. Or on something without headers. The $3000 spent was an absolute waste on my buddy's boat. I am going to try to have some type of device that easily slips over a tail pipe and gets the exhaust below water. This way he can get in / out of his canal on one motor without totally pissing off his JEALOUS neighbors. BBB
