I ordered all the parts I needed to rebuild the short block for my motor. I ordered Fel Pro 1037 head gaskets. When I wasw reading the package they come it it says for Bowtie and truck blocks. Are these the right ones for a mark IV block. The motor is a 454 +.030, 7.0 -1 compression, factory iron heads, twin turbos with intercoolers pushing 10 lbs of boost. Should I also drill the deck surface at the front of the block to match the cooling holes in the head gasket?

I'm sure that there are people far more experienced on this topic than I am, but I sure like the Cometic gaskets, especially when running boost with no O-rings. They are all stainless sandwich so they won't corrode, and have a very thin coating to seal water. They seem almost impossible to blow, since the core is solid stainless. Just my .02

I just completed my rebuild of a 10.5cr Gen IV BBC and used the Fel-Pro 1037 head gaskets. I did decide to drill the holes in the lower part of the block. I feel that this cools the ehaust side of the head more evenly than the old Gen IV where most all of the coolant flow went to the back of the block and then forward thru the heads.
I have 20+ hours on the engine and it is running great.
