My port motor was not getting any spark so I switched my staboard motor box over to the port motor. It now fires right up but it is running real rough. The tack is bouncing all over the place and it sounds bad. I was going to try switching over some of the other stuff butt it started raining. Do any of you have any ideas where I should start as to searching for the problem. I was planning on leaving next week to go on a trip and would love to have her running right.
The motors are 468's with Blower Shop 8/71's and all msd (blaster coil, soft touch rev limiter, caps, wires, and dist)
Thanks
Todd

The trigger wires from your distributor(or crank trigger) may be close to a sparkplug wire that is getting bad. The trigger wires should be routed away from the plug wires and coil wire anyway, but if a high voltage wire is leaking, it will cause an erratic spark. You may also want to check the grounds closely. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies! After doing a little research I know I need a new box so I ordered a coil and a set of wires also. It cant hurt to have the new stuff as a spare if I find something else. For the first time I have something planned to use the boat and this happens so it just figures. Summit had the best prices I could find also!!

i have had 2 coils go bad in the last week. the plugs would spark when hooked to wirer's but very small spark. when i put new coil in motor never ran better. if using msd dist. & cap be sure no corrision is starting to form in dist. around magnetic pick area. if so bead blast dist & clear coat it helps alot.
