Water pump on the motor drips. When boat is running or just sitting in the water. Where can I buy a new one, recomendations on brands? How hard is it to install?

Do you mean the sea water pump on the bottom left of the engine looking at the front or the circulation pump in the middle just under the front of the intake manifold? Either one is pretty easy to install. You can get those parts at any Mercury dealer and sometimes places like Boat U.S. or even West Marine. Just make sure if its the circ pump that you use a Marine circ pump, not an automotive.
Hope this helps. Any other info needed feel free to P.M. me or call the shop tomorrow.

Thanks John, It would be the Sea water pump on the bottom left. I didn't look at it close but that is where the drip is coming from. I would assume it hangs on a bracket and runs by a belt and just has a hose in and out. Is that correct???

Pretty much that covers it. You have a drive belt that will need to be tightened, an incoming hose and an out going hose. Just make sure that you mark which one comes off of which fitting. These pumps are directional. So watch what you do.
Any other info, just call or email.

Generally they can be rebuilt. There are 2 bearings and 3 seals inside of these along with a snap ring. A boat repair shop can do them pretty quick or someone very mechanical. I know the sea pump side of it runs around $100.00. The bearings probably around $15 a piece and the seals around $5 a piece. Just guessing. A new pump complete will run you close to $250.00 I bet.
Rebuild is better.

Are you sure the clamps are tight on the hoses ?? Just a thought as that happened to me once.

There are two style raw water pumps, the old style has the main housing and several gaskets and wear plates, etc... The new style has just a housing, wear plate and a small 1" or so ring gasket. You can tell the difference by looking at the end that the two large hoses connect to. If there is a 1/2 end piece that has the hose connections and then a gasket right after, it's the old style. The new style is solid from the hose connections forward to about 5" or so where it meets the pully assembly. If you have the old, get the new housing kit which comes with the housing, impeller, wear plate and ring gasket. I just did two of these and the cost from merc dealer was 90 bucks.
It is a very easy job... Start by putting a small white paint line on the housing and the plate the housing attaches to so you know how it should go back on. Mark and Disconnect both large hoses, two fuel lines from fuel pump if you have the mechanical fuel pump on your assembly, not sure what year your motor is and several bolts that hold the entire bracket assembly to the motor. Might have to take off the one cooling hose to reach the one bolt. On the bench, remove the 5 bolts from the housing and take it apart. When you put it back together, use something like dish soap or vaseline to put the impeller in a clockwise position. Once in, you can spin the pulley by hand to rotate and assure the fins are all in the right direction. If your missing any fins..... get back to us or search here as the missing fins have to be found and are probably lodged in the back of the oil cooler, there were recent threads about how to do this...
Good luck!!!!
