Default What could cause this ??

Problem ,, the boats a 83 -34- Scarab III... with 502 motors with 177 blowers fresh TRS drives..... Borg warner trans spinnin 27'' pitch Hydromotive Q-IV's ..the problem is that outta the hole it has no problems... but around 4200 + rpm when the blowers are kickin in .. the starbaord prop spins loose,..engine rpm increases to limit.. the boat lists... if I back off a few 100 rpm the prop hooks back up.... I experanced this with different props too.. I have 27 and 28's ...it used to do it with just the 28'' .... the 27's had no prob...now it happens with both...WTF??? ANY IDEAS ??

Could be a fitting on the hull that is disturbing the water to the prop and causing cavitation. Got any strainers, speedo pickups, etc on that side?

Yeah, I too would look for some kind of problem on or with the hull causing turbulence forward of the outdrives or something on the outdrive gearcases themselves. But your B/W's could be needing clutch pacs. Check the fluid. "If it's brown, Tear it down" --- Jer

Nothing changed on the boat... solid hubs on props... and it dose it with the 27'' and 28'' pitch props... Like I said the 27's used to hold fine, now they are not.... too much stern lift with the q-IV's..??? should I try bravo's again???... or I still suspect the trans????

I'd say trans. Buddy had the exact same symptoms in an older Checkmate with TRS's. I think I remember him saying a shifter cable adjustment fixed it.

I ran today...topped off fluids.... twice they broke loose twice they did not...WTF.... the casing vents do blow alittle fluid...I've heard that is a sign of a plugged screen...I may nurse them till fall and yank them when I put the boat away...I may call Marc @ Bamm ...see what he says...
