whats the power valve do?
i still can't get my port eng to idle properly. when the motor was dyno'ed it back fired pretty good and i was wondering if it hurt the power valve. the engine won't idle for crap and the throttle is unresponsive until you open the butterfly a lot. any ideas? want to get this sorted out asap. thx ratman

Re: whats the power valve do?
The power valve has a rubber diaphragm that is affected by vacuum. When engine vacuum is high the valve closes and keeps fuel from flowing in the enrichment circuit. When the diapragm breaks from age or a backfire it thinks vacuum is low and opens the valve causing large amounts of fuel to be introduced-this will cause poor idle and midrange response but the engine may run o.k. at higher rpms where all the extra fuelis needed.
