First Bravos

Re: First Bravos
I run my 88 bravos with a hose attached to the top cap, internal bottle and fully flooded. Otherwise, I think they are stronger, cases and caps are thicker, shifters better, they supposidly had trouble with the clutches but never on mine. My upper gears are ready to be changed after a lot of severe abuse. I wouldnt be afraid of the early drives. The torpedo is shorter and you will need cones over 70.

Re: First Bravos
I feel that the one with the shorter torpedo, made my boat faster than the newer style. Selling one to a customer, the only prob. is the corrosion that I'm cleaning up and welding and refinishing. Took quite a lickin' and grounded out and stalled the motor several times, hardly could get it off boat due to twisted input shaft. Oil was clean as new. BBB
