Default Rebuilt my fresh water pump, should I.......

just bolt it back on and hook the hose up? Heard of people "priming" the pump. What is that?

as long as you put some kinda lube on the impeler it will be fine, dish soap or a littel 2-4-C marine grease works great, just need something to help it out until it primes for the first time.

Whats the difference from hooking the hose to your drive vs lowering the boat in the water after sitting high and dry on a lift/trailer/rack? Both will have water to the pumps before the motors are started. correct? So not really priming or started dry??
Thanks
