Re: Need more power!!! Help!!
I was going to look into edelbrock heads as a option for the aluminum, you usually get a thicker deck in a aluminum head and the weight savings are not going to hurt.I don't have a closed cooling system but I have alot of friends here in the fresh water running aluminum heads with no corrosion problems. Thanks for the input.

Are you talking about the GM vortechs or the Edelbrock ETEC vortechs? The GM's are about $250.00 ea. or you can get the SDPC modified ones with screw in studs, guide plates, .600 lift springs for about $390.00 ea. The ETEC's go for for about $1100.00 for the small port ones and $1200.00 for the larger port ones.

Re: Need more power!!! Help!!
How much better are the GM vortecs than a stock merc head,I know the stock mercs are known for valve problems, what about the vortecs,I am looking to do a budget engine as I plan on a new boat in a year or two,I just want more out of this one.I think if I can get 50 hp and 50 or so ft lb torque I would be happy with it till a new boat comes.I need twin big blocks next time!!

Here is the dynosheet of my 350 w/ Vortec heads, 100hrs. no problems...so far. 50hp is easy to get, but I think that you`ll want 100hp to see difference, and it`s not so much more $$$... send me e-mail, if you want the part #`s etc.
