We have a 03 fountain with 575sci's. the boat sat for 2 years, we got it new in early 05. The oil pressure hovers right around 40 pounds at 4800rpm. Is this normal for these engines? I have topped it off, changed it..and nothing makes a difference. I have had the warning alarm come on once on the port engine at 3200rpm o the port engine? The guage read just below 40. Could it be plugged fittings in the block after sitting so long or??? any help would be great.

Mine has always been 62lbs cold and 40 when warmed up and hot. Never changes once warm. Always seemed odd to me but has been problem free for 165 hrs. Figured Merc. had it rigged that way.

Mine are the same too.
Mine are 2002's, bought it with 150 hrs on it,
changed the oil at 160, have a little over 25
hours on the oil change, have not had to
add 1 drop of oil to either of these

Not to get off topic but a "save your head gaskets note" for those without a water pressure guage on a 575sci. Now that I have a water pressure guage I have observed high water pressure at 35lbs and up at wot during the winter months with colder water. I believe this is related to the thermostat closing down.

By the way if your oil temp starts varying at random, you've got a clogged oil cooler. Originally thought my oil thermostat had taken a dump. Cleaned it out, no more problems.

Thanks for the input. The oil temp is right around those #'s. Just thinking that 40 pounds was a little low, but by the way it sounds its not.
