I used it for years and had no oil related problems. Only gave it up when cost (and related freight costs) and availability became a hassle. If the cost was reasonable and it was easy to come by, I would probably go back. (sorry Hydro, but I still think that Amsoil has some great products and they WERE one of the pioneers in the synthetic lube field) --- Jer

15W-40 Amsoil is good juice especially if you can get a good deal on it.

The Amsoil Series 2000 20W-50 Racing is what i would use in an offshore if running hard or with hopped up mills.

I used it the last 3 years in my HP500's.

Changed valve sprngs and lifters at 250 hrs.

No sign of lifter "flat spotting" on either engines.

Would use some oil after 10 hrs on the oil,
but nothing major.

I have 575sci's now, and use 20w50 Amsoil,
25 hrs. on the oil, hasn't used a drop in either engine

I'm a believer in the stuff.

Amsoil does a nice job formulating their products and I like their 2-cycle oil as well. They make a 60wt Racing Synthetic that is very good in blower engines where gas contamination and "thinning" is an issue. The Series 2000 20W-50 Racing product has found it's way into the crankcase of many racing offshore boats. The 15W-40 Diesel/Marine is good for non-racing and "non-extreme" engine applications and certainly a great choice for diesel marine engines!

The Amsoil SD oil filters are worth getting as they trap and flow better than most.

Their new Marine gear-lube has been performing nicely from what I hear.

Amsoil is a good choice if that is the one you decide on and select the right product for the right application. That goes without saying.

Not only is it his personal favorite but this his personal thread.

HydroTwin,
Can you ever post without endorsing your personal favorite?

An endorsement is a "promotional statement" usually associated with sales and marketing and making money....I am not promoting the use of ANY oil in that sense.. but giving my opinion which I view to be no lesser or greater than anyone elses on this subject.

But I did edit out my "blurb" in the previous post because I see your point.

Fair enough?

..and I do know that many of Bob's guys like Amsoil and I think they have a number of really good products as well. Just match the product to the type of engine and service it will be exposed to and you are good to go.

PS..Amsoil makes a very nice Premium 20W-50 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle oil too...

That's fair enough.
Plenty of good lubricants to chose from. I am sure people will find their personal favorite.

The Series 3000 5W-30 is said to be one of the best formulations of it's kind. Their 0W-40 ATV oil is great stuff too. Amsoil is rock solid stuff. Nobody I know of on Bob's site has any Amsoil issues and many run it out to long drain cycles in cars.

The Marine Lube is looking real good...I think I said that already...

I think the ZDDP levels in their V-Twin formulation are excellent by the way too.

The reason I am willing to make these statements is because Amsoil products are used in high volume on Bob's site...and those guys are diehard oil fanatics.
