Redline Heavy Schockproof Outdrive Oil
I am currently using this in my 1986 Alpha 1. This drive has never been apart except to change the water pump impeller. My question is when the oil is new it's a dark red color, this season when draining for winter maintenance the oil is red-gray in color but more gray than red. What should it look like?

it should be red like when you put it in, it means that you have water intruesion some where, would suggest that you have drive pessure tested. you might want to check out the below link also........

When pressure testing the drive should it be filled with lube? What is the test pressure? How long do you run the test? What about a vacuum test?
Thanks for the replies so Far!

You pressure test withthe drive empty,up to about 10 psi merc actually says 5 psi I think I like to do it at 10 for about 5 min...and yes vacum test is part of it also
