im having a problem with one of my crane hi 6 ign boxes. a red light came on the port motors ign box and it breaks up at 3k rpm which is half of what the rev limit is set for (6k) i got this box wet once before and it did the same thing but it seemed to dry out in an hour or so and started working again. i don't know why it started this crap today as i dont think it got wet. what does the red light signify? any help would be great, thx ratman

I have the same boxes. The red light comes on with the "key on power" and blinks each time the igniton trigger is activated. The light blinks so fast when the engine is running that it looks like a solid light. I am going by memory here, but I think their is a wire that determines # of cylinders, you leave it alone for 8 and it can either be energized or grounded to change # of cylinders. Maybe when you got the box wet it grounded this wire, playing games with the rev limiter. I can dig up the instructions if you need them. Jeff

ratman,
I just went on cranes web site, the blue with is the cylinder select wire. If this is energized it will think you have a four cylinder and cut the rev limit rpm in half. Jeff
