Default drive trim

if i ahve a drive gague that goes from 1-10(1 being the lowest adn 10 begin the highest) , should 1 be the drives be "neutral" (the propshaft directly intersecting transom at 90 degree angle (if the transom wasnt at an angle)), or should 5 be neutral and everything below is lower and everytgin above is trimming up?? our boat has bad porpoising problem and we installed new transom, egniens etc, and checking where the drives shoudl be lined up. thanks

How you adjust your indicators is kinda up to you. Zero is usually in the full in or down position and 10 at the full out. Neutral trim is when the prop shaft is running parallel to the bottom. What that is on your particular indicator doesn't really matter as long as you know where it is.

Adjust your drive to neutral then take note of what the indicator reads or make a mark on the indicator or a piece of tape will work.

I think it's more important that the 2 indicators are the same and not really what number they are pointing at. IN other words that both drives are full in at zero and even as they are trimmed out. It takes 2 people and some patience to get them right.
