Re: 256 Blowers Who's Best? B&M, Weiand, Blower Shop
I have two season on used Weiand 256's 5 lbs boost no problems - these units do not run teflon seals. I did have the BLOWER SHOP freshen up the gears and polish the cases - great job and very reasnoble cost - Blower Shop has a billet version of this same 250 blower @ 2 X the cost of a Weiand -

Ask about the rear bearings.
As I understand it, some are sealed, some are in an oil bath. The sealed ones do not seem to last very long.

I bought a Weiand 256. Never got passed the installation. They are having problems with the BBC kit. Wrong snout, wrong lower pully and spacers. They then determined it needed a spacer. The spacer they made is only available from them (application specific) ,and would not be in production for at least 3 months. This was back in Oct. I returned it! If they can't get the set up right, can the build it right??

ghitter:
If you can find a clean Mercury/Weiand 256, and have the Blower Shop do some of their upgrades, you will be pleased.
If you try to adapt an automotive Weiand, or worse B&M (both brands now owned and manufactured by Holley), you will be dissapointed like Pure Energy.
Been there done that. My last B&M lasted 10 hours.
I would do it right the first time, and get a Blower Shop 250, or a carb version Whipple. Add the intercooler, and you'll be set!
