Where the motors pickled as soon as they came out of the water?

we pickled our 454 mags in the 375 12 years ago when it submerged in salt, and they ran for another 9 years....

Depending on how they were flushed it could come up milky for three or more oil changes. The BIG questions; Was it a salt water dunking, and how many hours (yes, "hours", not days) before they were serviced and fired?? If the answers are "salt" and "days"... Just fold, leave the cards on the table, and walk away. --- Jer

or if your a gambler go all in. if you can steal the boat and you should be able to if it was submerged, you can get the parts boiled in a good hot tank then media blasted and reuse most or the hard parts, cranks, rods, heads, blocks, etc. the other stuff ya have to buy new for a rebuild anyway. just my .02

big question does it crank and as asked above was it pickled if the answer is yes as stated above oil will be milky a couple more times after that you will need to run it and " steam" off the water because no matter how many times you change it there will still be a little water that will have to be steamed off.....or just rebuild and any electronics that had any power to them are trash...

Does it make a difference if the engines were running when the boat sank (it was stuffed) as compared to, say, sank when it was docked?
