Default Crockett 502 MPI upgrade

Has anyone had there 502 MPI upgraded by Crockett marine?? I talked to Tyler about this on Friday and he says 100 HP gain
He sounds like a good guy and Im looking for that kind of gain, but why isnt everyond doing this??
For the money its a killer deal.
If any of you have had this done, or know anyone who has, let me know how this worked out.

Thanks in advance

Powerquest 380,
I was looking into doing the "KIT" upgrades to my 502"s and Crockett seemed to have the best program. I just did not want my engines that far away---I really wanted a local engine builder that I could see the progress. If that is not an issue with you, I think Crockett is the way to go.

Thanks,
Dail

Thanks BajaBennett, I live in MI and I can take my motors to him, I have a guy here, West side of MI, that I may have do the install.
My main concern is that I want to keep things a "friendly" as I can, meaning I dont want something that needs tons of rebuilds and constant maintance. My 502s run great and I hope they stay that way after the Crockett upgrade. Still wish I could chat with someone who has had there motors done.

There is a thread running now on hotboat.com , in the how to section, covering this very upgrade. The motor is back together, and ready for a water test very soon, might want to check that out, lets us know.

I can't think of anyone in the country I would trust with my engine upgrades more the tyler. Very sharp guy! And he is nice, which is just a bonus.

I did a slight upgrade on mine

Not much of the original engine left but it dyno'd at 595 hp at 5400 rpm with dry headers spinning only the water pump

My engine build

With his upgrade package, do you have to go to headers, typ. CMI, or a performance exhaust, typ. stainless marine, or does he just keep the standard merc exhaust(...50 lb anchors)?

We use CMI or Stainless Marine or Eddie Marine or Imco it all works on that kit. Tyler

Take this from another engine builder as far as being worried about my engines being far from me I would send my engine to Tyler with my eyes shut and not give it any second thought Tyler is one of the true honest people in the marine industry and one of the best anywhere sometimes having the engines closer to you doesn't allow for the type of quality work this individual is capable of doing because not everyone has his knowledge and experience. Sincerely Laz
