I'll second that! The Diacom software is awesome. Trouble codes are just one of many capabilities that Diacom has.

Do you still use the scan tool to use the Diacom software?

I have the Tech 1 which is also used to diagnose the older (90's ) GM vehicles. It gives lots of good information. I also have the Rinda unit which I use on my 496's. I would not purchase a boat without hooking one of these up. If you need one let me know as I would be interested in selling the Tech 1.

No, you load the software on a laptop and connect to the ECM via a USB cable. You can record live data. I connect to my motor then go out and run for however long I want and it records the whole time. You can then display the data in text or graph format. You can tell what is going on with your motor anywhere from idle to WOT under load in real life conditions. I have a 496HO. I'm not sure if the older ECMs will display as much info as the PCM555. You might want to ask Rinda about that.

What's the difference between the Tech1 and the Merc scanner?

Thanks Dave.

Looks like I need to find someone with a copy.

Rinda is not that dumb, the SW is useless without the cable that comes with it. It has some type of HW lock built into it.

Yes, I assumed it had some sort of softkey to operate. Built into the cable in this case. I was implying a copy and cable for sale, but at used pricing.

It looks like the program is not that much more $ than the scan tool.
The demo on their site looks like the ticket!

Thanks for the heads up.
