I have a pair of 1999 ProMax 300's. Motor #1 has a wire harness that comes out of the motor about 6 feet and terminates at a connector. The connector has another 10 feet of wire harness to the ignition key switch. This is fine. Motor #2 has about 10 feet of harness coming out of the motor directly to the key switch. Whats up with that? Does Mercury make something that I can add to motor #2 to make it like motor #1? I really need the extra 6 feet and want to do it right. Yes I can cut the harness on #2 and add the wire to lengthen it but that is plan B.
Thanks in advance....TJ

Thanks Outdrive - That is exactly what I needed to hear. Actually I have an 8 pin assy with 4 more separate wires. Im hoping BAM will reply to my e-mail - they have been very unresponsive lately.

8-pin i forgot that i had switched to talking about outboards, ten pin is sterndrive. the part numbers for what you are looking for are as follows.
two foot extension, 84-17829a 2 retails for 34.30. ten foot extension, 84-17829a10 retails for 99.40. and the 20 foot extension, 84-17829a20 retails for 115.95. if your interested i keep most of this stuff in stock for our rigging shop. i can do 20 percent off list on most all mercury parts .this stuff shouldn`t cost but 5 to 10 bucks to ship. let me know if i can help you out. my number is 1-419-732-1777

You sure can help me out - when it's a little warmer (next day or 2) I will measure my harness and order. My e-mail is [email protected]. I'm thinking the 10' is what I have now.
Thanks! TJ
