Garmin 172C gpsmap chartplotter
Can anybvody give me any feedback about the Garmin 172c GPS/Chratplotter. Is it good not good is there a better unit for the money. I will be using it on Lake Mich. mostly.

I have the 182C and love it. The only thing that "kind of sucks" is that the Lake Michigan chart doesn't have any small inland lakes unless they are directly connected to the big lake. For the others you need the recreation maps for either Central or Eastern depending on what side of the lake you're on.

I have a 182C and its killer. Its also for sale, cheep. Just bought a new unit. Its only about 9 months old and they are all they say they are. Shoot me a p mail if wou want to.

I just bought a 182c.Upgraded from the 162 so hopefully couple bolts and the old connectors will screw right up and i'll be done.

Bought one last year from the GPS Store www.thegpsstore.com and it is sweet. NO problem seeing the screen in bright sunlight at all. There is a brightness adjustment and you just need to turn it up to max.
I bought the "eastern Lakes and Rivers" chip ($100) and the detail is awesome.
Would recommend this or any Garmin. I've been using their GPSs for years (handhelds, etc.), and they work well.
