I can't get a answer from whipple, so I am going to ask my OSO members for advice. I have a stage 2 on a 496 mag.I'm wanting to put CMI headers on,but the concern is leaning out the motor.

save your money it won't make any performance difference. Your going to need those dollars to replace your pistons soon....its only a matter of time.

I have the same problem with Dustin / whipple... Tried to reach him by phone / fax / mail etc... Still no Dustin, No answer
!!
We are doing the same conversion on 496 Ho's...CMI headers + Stage II ECU kit....
Factory ECU's are rich enough to work with the CMI headers...won't lean your engine out...don't worry

I have never ever had a problem getting parts (even Fed-ex'd overnight to me on vacation), accessories, answers to questions, or getting Dustin to reprogram my computers.
Remember he is just one person, but he is the "golden child" when it comes to the Whipples.
You just have to know the correct routes to take to get what you want when you need to get it from Dustin.

Maybe you can be of any help trying to reach him and clarifie the situation?
And yes, you're right...Dustin is the "golden child"...But why doesn't he reply if the Stage II ECU will work / give better performances with the CMI headers ??
A lot of customers already upgraded to the CMI headers and are willing to upgrade with the Stage II ECU kit...We only need to know if it works yes or no...or custom calibration is available...that's why we need to speak to Dustin not the girl on the phone @ whipple....

After things get clarified, he will be selling a lot of modified ECU's

If you already have Whipples stage 2 tuning on your ECM's, adding CMI headers is not going to lean you out too much. I need to hold school here again!
Remember the Merc ECM does not just have one set of fuel and spark tables in it. It has hundreds of combinations of settings possible. When you make slight breathing improvements to the engine , like from adding headers or exhaust improvements, the "speed -density" system this is will make sublte adjustments from the changed MAP signals and it will adjust fuel accordingly up to certain limits. Even with our 100HP+ kit you don't need to modify the ECM program. We just add a little more fuel accross the board with a slight fuel pressure adjustment and whola! 100HP more power at the same air fuel ratios! School dismissed!

I have to be honest here, I wanted to call the professor of 496's( Raylar) but I did'nt want to keep bugging him without buying something. Ray thanks for your input and I am planning to enroll in your 525 class this fall.
