Changing Engine Oil
I bought my boat back in October just in time to have it winterized. The boat is a 2000 Fountain Fever with a 500HP EFI Mercury. How do I hook up water to the engine so I can run it up to temperature to change the oil? There is a female hose adapter in the bilge and valves that need to be opened and closed. I am not sure which ones need to be opened and which ones need to be closed. Also how long can I run the engine like this. All help is appreciated.

Are you sure they didn't change the oil when they winterized it???? That is usally pretty standard when they do a winterization.
As for where to hook water to run the engine, we would probably need to see a pic of what you've got to give you exact directions. You would need to hook the water up before the sea pump. You could just hook it up to the drive with some muffs. If you have a freshwater flush system, you just need to open the valve from where you connect your water and close the valve between it and the outdrive.

what are the valves just behind motor (center). If thats the water setup looks like the valve setup provides to shut off water intake from the drive and supply water from the hose hookup. Liek Griff said ... need to really see the big picture ....and be REAL Careful .....takes about 30 sec oor less to cook a seapump .....m

You just hook up the hose, move the yellow handled valve so the handle is parallel with the valve body( opening the valve) and turn the other valve all the way in which closes off the water from the drive. Turn the water on and you are good to go. Remember to put the valves back when finished. Fountains web site also explains how this system works.
