ac to dc converter
I am thinking about running a ac to dc converter from my shore power to the dc system of the boat. I have already added an onboard battery charger but if I run the converter to the dc system and turn off the batteries I think it should work. Anybody ever done this or am I way off base. I just want to be able to run stereo, tv, fridge, other stuff at the dock without running the power through the batteries during charging.
Thanks

I dont know how big your DC appliances are but I dont think that you will need it if your on board battery charger is large enough. I run mine all weekend and still have fresh batteries when leaving the dock.

Re: ac to dc converter
I would think that running your battery charger and your dc appliances at the same time would overheat the battery. If that is not the case then I don't have any issues.
