A tube IS a waste if you are trying to make a 12V PA system or you are one of those freaks who need an obscene amount of unnatural bottom so that you think it sounds right.
But if you are trying to round out the low end to compensate for smaller woofs around the boat.... and not trying to shake your boat apart the tubes are fine.
