525 harness 10 pin to 14 pin
And I thought this was going to be plug and play! The 2006 525 that is going into my 25 Outlaw has the 14 pin connecter whereas my 2003 boat has the 10 pin connecter that Merc has used since 500 years! In the Merc parts catalogue I found an adapter (from 10 to 14 pin). Merc racing tells me it doesn´t work on HP applications and that I have to buy and fit the complete new harness to helm kit! I can´t figure out why. Its got nothing to do with the Smartcraft application and the connections that I am going to make are going to be the same, using the same analogue gauges, ignition switch and cutouts. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Re: 525 harness 10 pin to 14 pin
Sorry I didn't clear that up. because of the up and coming changes or added emission. the 14 pin plug is going to be the normal for all non race products. you will have to purchase the 14 pin harness and use the with your new engine.
In order to use your analog gauges you will need the AGI module which convert from digital to analog. if you need part numbers I can hook you up. Best Regards Phillip.

Re: 525 harness 10 pin to 14 pin
Thanks Philip, so that means that all Merc products will be using the 14 pin soon? I need the 14 pin harness and the AGI module to connect my Gaffrig monsters to the 2006 motor is what you´re saying? Is a an analog motor compatible with the new system? Is it possible to run the 2003 496 in a boat that has been converted?
Lots of questions!

Thanks H2oRigger, Merc racing confirmed your info today and it looks like about another $700.00 to add to the bill. If it is reliable, I won´t mind, but I´m not going to notice a difference either. Thats technology advance for you!
How ironic that I upgrade my electronic LED trim indicators by fittting mechanical ones using bowden cables (stone age) ...and replace the bowden cable for the steering with hydraulics...and right next to that I have digital canbus technology controlling my motor. The boat industry is confused melting pot of new and very old.............
