Default Baja swim platform: Broke!

On my 2005 25' Outlaw, I noticed yesterday that on the swim platform where the lower tubing connects to the flat plate on the transom, the weld has completely separated. All I can think of is that somehow water got into the tubing, froze, and expanded the tubing. It's separated all the way around the weld and the powdercoat peeled back a 1/4" from that.

I'm going to call the dealer today about it. Has anyone had any problems with this?

My Buddy had the same thing happen to his 25' OL and you are right why it happened! Water got into the tubing and during the winter it split.....His boat was out of Warranty so he had to have it fixed.

Just talked to the dealer today, which is 350 miles away. Seems that they've had one on their lot do the same thing, and that boat was brand new!!

I think they're gonna replace it. Gonna take some pics of it tonight and email to them before a decision is made.

Mmmm....
I think in the future, I will drill some 1/8 holes at the bottom of the tubes so I can prevent this... My 25 Outlaws is stored at frozen temperatures...

I just wonder how water got inside the tubes? Or could it be that when they were welding it with no vents in the tubing the gas has built-up inside it...

John, I'm not sure if the platform you have is like the one that I purchased damaged and repaired. If yours has the rubber anti slip strips I'm sure the water is getting around those. Mine had a hole drilled on each side for draining but the platform was stored on the ground behind a guys garage where it collected water, froze and burst. I had mine repaired and powder coated all for less than $200 locally. If you have to take it back to Somerset we should make a weekend out of it and boat there. GOOD LUCK!

May be a little too early to boat there T. I'll probably do something in the next few weeks to get it out of the way, unless you guys wanna go in May or June
