7.4L Carb to EFI question
I am converting a carbed 454 to port fuel injection. I have a big block, square port, aluminum marine manifold that is a crossover style (like an Arizona Speed and Marine intake). This is not a ASM manifold however, it has part #12550669 cast into it. I plan to make a plenum for it but I would like to know the manufacturer of the manifold to gather the correct gaskets and parts. Anyone have an idea who manufactured this intake?
I also found a Mercruiser EFI fuel pump with a built in sump and return. It has no part numbers on it and it needs a new pump. I sent a picture of the pump to Walbro and they cannot match it. My local Merc dealer is not real helpful, he wants part numbers. Anyone know a source for a rebuild kit or should I go the Aeromotive route?
Sorry to ask so many lame questions but this is my first marine engine build. Also, am I making a mistake with the square port intake? Thanks

What is your intent with this motor? What type of boat is going in and what HP are you looking to make?
The conversion will be expensive and you aren't starting with the best heads if you are looking for performance. If you are building a good engine for a fishing boat, cruiser or family runabout then this is not a bad idea, but there may be better ideas.

If the vst is off a big block from 94-97 the fuel pump part number is 808505. but that is just for a select few. you really have to know what it came off of. Ed
