blower pulley question
Can someone tell me why offsets are different on different superchargers?
Forinstance, First pic has a blower pulley that the hub seems shorter or something that the pulley has a dish, where the second pic the pulley seems to be surrounding the hub so its flat.
What is the reason for this, is there an advantage to having a shorter hub or the pulley showing its dish or to having a longer hub that the pulley covers the hub or is it just something that some engine builders do for no reason at all?
Third pic, better shot of a "dished" pulley"
Calling it a dish cause I dont know what else to call it.
Sorry
Thanks
J

Re: blower pulley question
The middle pic is normally the way the upper pulley is run. Sometimes there is an alignment problem that stem from additional V-belts that run power steering, etc, off the lower pulley, and you may need to "reverse" the upper pulley so that it lines up with the lower pulley for belt alignment.
Sometimes you can put spacers on the upper pulley to bring it forward an inch or two, but if that's not enough then you need to reverse it to bring it even more forward.
Hope you understood what I said. It's all done just to get the proper blower belt alignment.

Re: blower pulley question
Oh okay, Yes I understood that, Your explanation was good.
New to the SC world and just wanted to know why. I guess I have no way of turning around my pulleys on my new boat
Just a LITTLE tight on the front engine. I think its enough to change the belt though if you flatten it out and get it over the pulleys then move the tensioner pulley back.
You guys keep an extra belt on board in case these snap or break?
I just figured it might be cheap insurance cause you cant go anywhere if that belt is broken.
